Tweens to Teens (T2T) Project @ Penn State
Principal Investigator: Dr. Sheri Berenbaum
Departments of Psychology
& Pediatrics, Penn State University
Researchers at The Pennsylvania State University are conducting a study
of behavior and feelings in girls with congenital adrenal hyperplasia
(CAH). We are recruiting girls with classical and nonclassical CAH who are
10 to 13 years old.
Purpose: Our goal is to learn more about the development of
characteristics related to being a girl (gender development).
What it involves: We will visit you in your home when it is convenient for
you. Girls will answer questions about the things they do and are
interested in, and how they think and feel. Girls will also provide saliva so
we examine their hormones and determine the CAH gene mutation they
have. Parents will also be asked to complete questionnaires about their
own activities and interests and about their daughter’s behavior.
Shortly after the home visit, we will telephone girls and their parents on
several days and ask what the girls did during the day.
Time: The home visit takes about 2-3 hours and the phone interviews last
about 30 minutes each.
Compensation: Families will be compensated for their participation.
