Benchmarks of Success

Since CARES Foundationwas founded in 2001, we have made major strides in improving health, connecting people and saving lives. A few benchmarks of our success thus far include:

  • CARES Foundation now represents over 2,200 affected individuals and families, and over 500 healthcare and public health professionals in all 50 states and 38 nations.

  • The advocacy efforts of CARES Foundation, member families and professionals have lead to all 50 states expanding their newborn screening programs thereby saving the lives of thousands of babies with CAH and other metabolic disorders every year.

  • CARES Foundation has organized and presented six major conferences bringing together the world's experts in CAH with those affected by the disease and providing a wonderful opportunity for support. Over 1,000 people have attended one of our conferences. Often this is the first time families/affected adults have met others faced with the same challenges of living with CAH.

  • Family support groups have been formed across the United States and abroad, providing individuals and families with opportunities to network with other affected individuals in their local communities. New support groups are forming all the time.

  • CARES Foundation has awarded over $300,000 in grants for CAH-related research.
