Our Commitment To Privacy
CARES Foundation has a strong commitment to respecting and protecting the individual privacy of its members, donors, and all visitors who use our website. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on our homepage and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.

CARES Foundation does not collect any personally identifying information from you when you visit our site unless you choose to provide such information to us. CARES Foundation does not trade, sell or rent your personal information to others. CARES Foundation does not disclose information about your individual visits to our website, or personal information that you provide to us, such as your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, credit card number, etc., to any outside parties except as approved by you.

The term “outside parties” does not include website hosting partners or other parties who assist us in either operating our website or conducting business. We may, however, release your information when we believe it is appropriate in order to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect our or others’ rights, property, or safety.

CARES Foundation will not release your personal information to any other CARES Foundation member without your permission to do so.

The Information We Collect
This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the CARES Foundation website. In the following circumstances we will ask you to provide us with certain information about yourself by filling out and submitting an online form:

  1. Enrolling as a CARES member to receive educational materials and mailings
  2. Making an online donation
  3. Purchasing an item online
  4. Participating in an online survey
  5. Registering for a CARES Conference or other event

The types of personal information collected at these pages are:

Phone number
Credit Card Information (for donations and product purchases only)
(etc.)

On some pages, you can submit information about other people. For example, if you make an online tribute donation and choose to notify the person or their family about your donation, you will need to submit the recipient's address. In this circumstance, the types of additional personal information collected are:

For membership enrollment and surveys, we will also request personal information such as personal and family health history as it relates to CAH. We may request information about your personal values and preferences regarding the organization’s priorities. In certain instances we may request family income. All of this information is kept strictly confidential will be used for the sole purpose described on the online form.

From time to time, we may also ask you for information in other circumstances. It is completely optional for you to complete these online forms. If you choose to engage in these activities, but prefer not to do them online, you may always print out the form, complete it manually and either fax it to our office (973-912-8990) or you may mail it to our offices: CARES Foundation, Inc., 2414 Morris Ave., Suite 110, Union, NJ 07083.

The Way We Use Information
You can register on our website if you would like to receive our mailings as well as updates on our services. Information you submit on our website will not be used for this purpose unless you fill out the registration form. We use the information you provide about yourself, your family or a friend when registering as a member, to better understand the CAH community which we serve. We do not share any personally identifying information with outside parties.

Occasionally, we provide non-identifying and aggregate CAH information to scientists who are conducting CAH research. For example, we may tell a researcher that X number of individuals affected by CAH live in a certain area (i.e. state or country), or that Y number of men and Z number of women filled out our registration form, but we would not disclose anything that could be used to identify those individuals.

We use the information you provide about yourself when placing a product order only to complete that order. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete that order.

We use the information you provide about someone else when placing an order only to ship the product and to confirm delivery. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete that order.

We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are used from time to time to communicate important notices or messages to you. CARES will not use these addresses for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.

Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

Our Commitment To Data Security
We care about the safety and security of your transaction. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. All personal and financial information is captured in a secure environment using 128 bit encryption and the https security protocol to communicate with your browser software. CARES Foundation has implemented reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration or disclosure. However, CARES Foundation cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat those measures or use your personal information for improper purposes.

Our Commitment To Children's Privacy
Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at our website from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 13.

CARES Foundation welcomes children to learn more about our organization and about the humanitarian and medical issues presented on the CARES Foundation site, and we are particularly respectful of the privacy of our young users. We encourage parents to monitor their children's use of the Internet and to help us protect their privacy by instructing them never to provide personal information on this site or any other without permission. We will never attempt to extract unnecessary information from our users, regardless of age. Consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 ("COPPA"), we will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without prior verifiable parental consent. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with such information without consent, we will use our best efforts to remove such information from our files.
